The Mattapan Community Health Center will celebrate 34 years of community service at the 10 th Annual “Rock the Boat” fundraiser on Saturday, April 29 th at their new location -- The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center on Summer Street in the Seaport District.
The Gala comes as Mattapan Community Health Center celebrates several recent awards. The health center received a grant from the Smith Family Foundation of Chestnut Hill to support the prevention of premature deaths and complications associated with untreated or poorly managed diabetes. Dr. Azzie Young also received the African American Achievement Award from the Mayor of Boston and the MLK Drum Major Award presented by the Union United Methodist and St. Cyprian Episcopal Churches of Boston.
This year’s honorees are: Thomas Farrington, Founder and President of Farrington Associates, Inc. and the Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN), Dr. Kathleen O’Loughlin, President and CEO of Delta Dental of Massachusetts, and Dr. Bruce Chabner, Clinical Director of the Cancer Center at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The event co-chairs are: Vivian C. Beard of Vivian Male Productions; Robert E. Smyth from Citizens Bank of Massachusetts, and Peter Meade of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. The Mistress of Ceremonies is Carole Copeland Thomas, Founder of C. Thomas & Associates and Radio Talk show host.
Mattapan Community Health Center is a comprehensive health delivery organization that serves residents from Mattapan, Dorchester, Roxbury, and Hyde Park, as well as those from adjacent suburbs such as Brockton, Randolph and Stoughton. Established in 1972, the health center is a founding partner of the Boston Medical Center network, Boston HealthNet, and is a partner with Partners HealthCare.
Tickets to the Gala are $200 per person for General Admission; $300 person for the VIP Reception and Gala; and $100 per person for Seniors for the Gala.
